Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The CFO will work as a partner with the CEO of the regional operating company to develop and execute business plans to support the overall strategy of HomeServices of America. This position will establish and utilize key operating metrics and financial analysis to assess and drive business performance. Implement policies, procedures, and controls to facilitate the timely, accurate and consistent reporting of financial results and assures compliance with financial and legal reporting requirements. The position is located in our West Des Moines corporate office.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and administer business plans and budgets, along with goals and deliverables, to align the business with strategy and create value

  • Lead creation of annual budget, set budget goals, review results vs plan and make adjustments to align with business objectives

  • Consult with and advise all segments of management concerning operation of the business as it relates to the attainment of objectives and the effectiveness of policies, organization structure and procedures

  • Manage operating and capital expenditures to attain EBITDA projections

  • Administer tax policies and procedures

  • Assure protection of the business and its assets through internal controls, policies, procedures, and necessary insurance coverage

  • Appraise and interpret the effect of economic factors and other external factor on the business

  • Perform administrative activities necessary for effective management, including employee safety, selection and development, salary and budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, communicating organizational goals and objectives, and planning, integrating, measuring and reporting work performance

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • MBA/Bachelors degree in business, finance or accounting

  • Ten plus years experience in a financial/accounting position with increasing responsibility

  • Experience in financial services, mortgage or real estate a plus

  • Proven competency in corporate finance/accounting to include budgeting, reporting, business planning, compliance, and general business management

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and team building skills

  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills

  • Project management skills, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently

Transaction Coordinator

Iowa Realty is seeking a creative and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Transaction Coordinator in our Corporate office! 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a facilitator for client/sales associate from accepted offer to closing. Communicate with all parties to the pended sales transaction, ensuring timelines are met and closing date is achieved.

  • Coordinate, complete, and / or review transaction documents/paperwork/forms for completeness, accuracy, and adherance to company policy and state rules and regulations. Follow up with sales associates to correct discrepencies. 

  • Maintain/manage pended files to ensure all information is obtained and/or reports and disclosures are forwarded in a timeley manner to support closing and meet sales associate expectations. Keep sales associate informed on the progress of the files.

  • Confirm earnest money checks and forward to accounting to comply with timeframes.

  • Prepare additional duties as requested or assigned. 


Performance Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience. Post-secondary coursework preferred.

  • Two years administrative experience, preferably in real estate or settlement services office.

  • Sales experience beneficial.

  • Knowledge of real estate, title and/or mortgage business preferred.

  • Strong computer/technology skills; proficient in Microsoft Office products.

  • Must possess excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task; accuracy/quality; detail-oriented.

Assistant Sales Manager — Beaverdale

HomeServices of Iowa is looking for and Assistant Sales Manager who will recruit, develop and maintain an effective sales and support staff, contributing to company-wide objectives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, select, train, and retain new and experienced sales agents and support staff.

  • Provide timely and effective support to sales agents related to all areas of real estate transactions by maintaining high visibility and availability for sales associates and staff.

  • Track sales revenue, number of customers, accountability of sales associates and their production, and district market share.

  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable company policies and procedures, real estate regulations and guidelines, and market information and trends.

  • Maintain a positive and moticated office environment through good communication, strong relationship building, and office events.

  • Actively participate in community activities, local and state board of realtors.


Performance Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field with professional management training or equivalent work experience and knowledge.

  • Two plus years of real estate experience with demonstrated sales success and strong transactional expertise

  • Previous management experience with success in sales associated recruitment desired.

  • Solid knowledge of all aspects of State and Federal real estate regulations

  • Must hold an active real estate license in Iowa; broker license is beneficial.

IT Business Analyst

The IT Business Analyst is responsible for business systems analysis, project management, and strategic planning to achieve maximum productivity through information technology for all business units

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and/or manage technology solutions.

  •  Analyze and evaluate technology solutions, costs and feasability.

  • Evaluate and negotiate vendor contracts.

  • Oversee third-party vendor relationships.

  • Work with executive, departmental and sales office managers to determine technology needs, determine practicality of requests, and advise on potential solutions.


Performance Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in information systems, computer science, or related field; Bachelors preferred.

  • 5+ years related information technology experience, including Business Analysis and Project Management.

  • Real Estate or Mortgage industry experience preferred.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Effective customer service and communication skills.


Human Resources Generalist

HomeServices of Iowa is seeking a Human Resources Generalist in our West Des Moines corporate office. The HR Generalist will primarily be responsible for coordinating and leading our staffing and recruitment activities. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 3 years previous experience in interviewing and selection, onboarding, benefits administration, timekeeping and employee relations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage job postings, resumes/application, interviews screening candidates and making job offers

  • New hire orientation and training

  • Provide general support to staff in the areas of timekeeping, HRIS, policy and benefits administration

  • Assure completion of all required paperwork and approval process to include new hires and changes

  • Bi-weekly payroll reporting

Performance Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial relation, human resources management, business administration or related field

  • A good working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and employment law; PHR certification preferred

Title Assistant

Iowa Title Company is seeking a highly-motivated individual to join our team as a Title Assistant at our downtown Cedar Rapids office! The ideal candidate will have experience in the real estate or legal professions.  The Title Assistant will provide timely service to customers and agents which may include any of the following:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate searches and reports, and retrieve documents as part of support services on research requests

  • Perform scanning and indexing and assist in maintaining supplies

  • Prepare billing, check deposits, and assist in locating abstracts

  • Process mail and courier deliveries for incoming and outgoing title work

  • Answer phones, respond to information requests or refer to appropriate departments

  • Retrieve and process information and provide communication to clients

  • Provide other clerical and research support as needed in daily production

Performance Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience

Insurance Producer

HomeServices Insurance Agency is an affiliate of one of the largest real estate companies in the United States, and we have an extraordinary opportunity for a professional insurance producer! The producer will work in our Cedar Rapids and Iowa City offices to assist clients with their insurance needs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Market and sell personal lines insurance policies

  • Proactively contact all leads to recommend appropriate insurance, quote and place coverage

  • Identify and assess client risk exposures

  • Foster referral relationships with all real estate personnel including agents, office managers and mortgage brokers to maximize sales opportunities

Performance Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree with equivalent work experience and knowledge; bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Appropriate state agent/broker personal lines insurance license

  • Minimum of two years’ successful personal lines insurance sales experience

  • High level marketing skills

  • Working knowledge of risk assessment and risk management techniques
