Summary

West Liberty is a small town of about 3,800 located in eastern Iowa between Muscatine and Iowa City along Highway 6. West Liberty’s downtown commercial district is on the National Register of Historic Places and there are ongoing projects to revitalize and preserve the buildings and foster the businesses that operate there. The town is home to the Muscatine County Fairgrounds that hosts many events during the year; visitors to the Rock Island Railroad Depot Museum can learn more about local history, and locals and visitors alike can enjoy the beautiful Carnegie Public Library that was recently renovated. The main employers in West Liberty are the school district and West Liberty Foods. Other major economic players are agriculture, agribusiness, and housing development.
